On Wednesday 21st March, fifteen Year 10 students went to the University of Leeds to take part in the annual Festival of Science. This year we were invited to take part in the ‘proof of the pudding’ workshop, a session which was centred around the famous M&S melt in the middle chocolate pudding. We explored what makes a good dessert and what features a successful dessert should have. Following this, the students invented and designed their own desserts with some very interesting ideas, including a snickers cake and a jelly bean ice cream.
The students were then allowed to create their own ice cream using a unique (and very interesting) blend of milk, sugar and vanilla extract being shaken together in a bag of ice.
To end the session, we were treated to a taste test of the famous melt in the middle chocolate pudding, which some students enjoyed more than the whole experience itself!
Students were a credit to the school and behaved impeccably throughout.
