My final Blog after four wonderful and fun filled years at BUH.
What a few weeks! Full of activity and learning.
We had work experience for our Year 10 students and it was hugely positive for them all. The feedback from employers was so positive and exactly what we have come to expect from our young people. They returned to school and completed 10 days of mock exams during which time they were exemplary in their approach and commitment to each exams sat. I am excited to see what they can do in the summer of 2020.
We have had athletic success at Beckfoot, SUSOMAD leaders working at City Hall, Science and English trips and Maths challenges all thrown in. We had debating and an incredible trip to Chellow Heights where our musicians performed for their children. Special.
We also had our Trust summer review, once again led by ex HMI Mike Maddison. We focussed on our quality of teaching and on our Literacy work to support young students with their learning and their ability to access our curriculum and exams. He said some very special things about our school and his report is a joy to read. The school is in a good place and I know Mr. Wrightson intends to build even further which is great news.
Our Strategic Vision 2019-2022 is now complete and will be ready for sharing in September. I am really proud of the work we have done on this as staff. It reflects a school that is determined to be really great and facilitate the continued success for our students and this community.
This week we have hosted reward assemblies marking the end of term all week. I have loved presenting so many students with rewards following their wonderful year at the school. I have also loved watching the wonderful array of talent on show especially the BAND! Under the stewardship of Ms. Dickson our students put on a show worthy of any celebration and each one we do is an utter joy!
Finally, I want to say thank you to you all for your support over the past 4 years. It has been my pleasure and privilege to lead this school with an amazing group of staff. I have enjoyed the success of our students and watching them grow into young adults that will make a difference to the city. I will miss this place hugely and everything and everyone associated with it.
Take care….and always be great.
