J.B. Priestley Windows in Yorkshire Post
Our J.B. Priestley windows have attracted a lot of media attention, getting our school on the front page of the T & A last week and in the Yorkshire Post yesterday.
We are hoping to rename our school library The J.B. Priestley Library and Amaan (pictured below with Abi) has approached Bradford University and the J.B. Priestley Society for approval to do so.
Amman received a immediate response from Bradford University's Academic Librarian who has invited our student library assistants to visit the J.B. Priestley archives based there.
Dear Ms Lahlafi,
I am a student and the head library assistant at Beckfoot Upper Heaton. As you may be aware the newly restored JB Priestley Memorial Window has been put up in our school library. We love it and have been in the T&A because of it (see the link below). We’ve been wondering if we could name the library after Priestley himself. I just wanted to check if you would be happy with this, as I know the Bradford University library is also named after the great man.
Yours sincerely
Amaan

Dear Amaan,
Thank you for your letter about the newly restored JB Priestley Memorial Window in your school library, it looks amazing. Its’ a wonderful idea to name your school library the JB Priestley Library and the University is fine with that, thank you for asking. I can see from the newspaper article link that you are already in touch with the JB Priestley family and JB Priestley Society who I think would also need to know about your proposal.
I also wondered if you, with your Librarian and any library assistant colleagues might like a short visit to our JB Priestley Archive housed within our library? The Archive includes scripts of plays, films and TV broadcasts, journal articles, lectures, press cuttings, theatre programmes and other publicity material, business and personal correspondence and a huge collection of photographs. There are even personal effects, such as Priestley's iconic pipes.
Many thanks and best wishes,
Alison Lahlafi – University Academic Librarian
