Healthy Eating Rewards
An Introduction to Healthy Rewards
There are many well-known benefits to having a balanced diet. With the Healthy Rewards scheme that has now started in our dining room, there is now an exciting additional benefit to adopting a healthy lifestyle.
Healthy Rewards is a promotional scheme operated by our school caterer (FM Catering Services) that is designed to help encourage students to choose healthier food and drink options.
It works by giving students a points score for every item purchased. The healthier the item, the more points you receive.
So for example a pizza slice will give you 5 points, but a hot main course or any sandwich will give you 8 points. A piece of fruit or fruit pot will give you 10 points but a muffin or doughnut will give you 0 points.
It’s worth remembering that all set meals and meal deals are worth 15 points, so choosing an option like these will help to keep your points total growing at a good rate!
The scheme works via the cashless system and towards the end of each term, the total points scores for all students are calculated. The students with the top 5 scores will each receive a reward of a £50 gift card (usually an Argos gift card), which means that you’ll have the freedom to spend it on whatever you want.
Winners posters will be displayed in the dining area and on the digital screens, so that it is clear who the winners are for each term.
Each term within the school year is treated as a new start, with the points totals for all students restarting from zero. Healthy Rewards points totals do not carry over into the next term’s time period.
(More detailed information on the points scores for each item can be found on posters or the school website.)
